Storm2 BlackBerry has released, Research In Motion (RIM) re-released a new BlackBerry model named Onyx. Smartphone with BlackBerry Bold official name of this 9700 revised version virtually predecessor, Bold 9000, which is looked fat and still stiff.

Actually the general features it has is not much different from the first generation Bold. The most difference is the design of smaller, thinner, and looks more elegant than the previous Bold. In addition, Onyx uses optical navigation trackpad no longer a trackball. Camera capability also increased and so did his memory.

"BlackBerry Bold 9700 is built base on the BlackBerry Bold predecessor successfulness but with new features and the best and smaller size, lighter, and a very fitting design that looks, feels, and works very well," said Mike Lazaridis, President and RIM CEO of RIM's official site.

Another difference is the increased battery life. If the first Bold could only survive up to 4 hours of talk time and 10 days standby, Onyx can up to 6 hours talk time and 15 days when used in standby mode in 3G network because it uses 1500 mAh batteries.

Onyx also been using the latest operating systems and supports BlackBerry 5.0 Desktop Manager for PC and Mac. Other features carried Onyx include 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, WiFi, and 256 MB of internal memory that can be added with microSD memory card.

Connectivity



Among the ranks of the BlackBerry device, virtually Bold series most qualified to support the completeness of connectivity features. Onyx is designed to meet the needs of enterprise communications management support services for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service server standards. In terms of connectivity, Onyx also supports data access through HSDPA.

However, it seems Onyx will only be provided for the GSM network users because no available versions of CDMA. Pricing and availability has been only in the U.S.
